Last year the Blue Mountains Conservation society entrusted us with some endangered zieria covenyi plants to plant in our bush classroom, Gunar Garung.
Only about 2000 of these plants remain in the wild and they are only found at Narrowneck in Katoomba and Breakfast Creek in the Megalong Valley.
The Stage 3 students planted the zieria covenyi plants in a number of different locations, with different conditions - some spots were sunnier, some spots more sheltered and some spots receive more water run off. The children are observing and noting which conditions within our school best suit the zieria covenyi plants. We're particularly excited to see that we have buds on at least one of the plants.
Thank you, Blue Mountains Conservation Society.
